Dr. Rita McCracken
Principal InvestigatorAssociate Head, Department of Family Medicine, Providence Health Care and Clinical Assistant Professor, UBC
Rita McCracken is a family doctor and researcher who is interested in describing the availability of primary care in BC and creating a reliable way to measure changes in that availability when we make changes made to the system. Her other research work includes assessing the effects of too much medication for older people and effective methods to deprescribe those excessive medicines. She chose medicine as a second career after 10 years working in Human Resources, finished med school at the University of Calgary in 2006 and now lives in East Vancouver with her husband and daughter. When not researching or doctoring, she can usually be found in her garden or knitting Norwegian dolls.
